The city has been unanimously admitted during the General Assembly held in Granada, consolidating its strategic commitment to congress tourism.
Dos Hermanas has been officially integrated as new member of the Spain Convention Bureau (SCB)following the holding of its General Assembly on 5 and 6 June in Granada. The inclusion, unanimously approved by all the members of the network, reinforces the positioning of the city as a strategic enclave for the MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions).
During the meeting, the delegate for Economic Promotion and Innovation of Dos Hermanas Town Council, Carmen Gil Ortega, spoke to present the strengths of the municipality in the field of congress tourism:
Carmen Gil explained that "Dos Hermanas is building a model of a city that brings together sustainability, connectivity and innovation. We have state-of-the-art infrastructures such as the future Exhibition and Conference Centrewith more than 24,000 m², a strategic location connected to airports, metro and Cercanías, and a unique offer of natural and heritage spaces. But most importantly, this development is part of a vision of a modern and cohesive city, which believes in the legacy of each action and in collaboration to generate positive impact.
The Exhibition and Conference Centre will contribute to the consolidation of the tourist destination of our city, which has other resources and attractions that will favour the experiences of visitors and tourists who will be able to enjoy our heritage, estates, the Great Andalusian Racecourse, natural landscapes such as the Fuente del Rey Lagoon, gastronomy, as well as a wide cultural and sports agenda.
Membership of the SCB will enable Dos Hermanas to position itself at national and international level in the circuit of cities that are committed to a quality, sustainable tourism with direct economic impact. One more step in the consolidation of the municipality as a metropolitan benchmark in innovation, talent and attraction of events.
What is the Spain Convention Bureau (SCB)?
The Spain Convention Bureau is an institution that brings together the main tourist destinations in Spain specialising in MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions). Being part of this network implies a seal of quality and prestige, as the Spain Convention Bureau promotes member destinations nationally and internationally, facilitating the organisation of congresses, conventions and business events.
This network currently brings together around 70 congress destinations in Spain. It was set up in 1984 as a specialised section of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), under the name of Spanish Section of Congress Cities.
