{"id":5197,"date":"2025-11-05T13:01:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T12:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/turismodoshermanas.com\/?p=5197"},"modified":"2025-11-20T09:36:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T08:36:53","slug":"winter-visitors-another-life-in-the-lagoon-open-day-that-invites-you-to-discover-the-fauna-that-inhabits-the-fuente-del-rey-lagoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/turismodoshermanas.com\/en\/invernantes-otra-vida-en-la-laguna-jornada-de-puertas-abiertas-que-invita-a-descubrir-la-fauna-que-habita-la-laguna-de-fuente-del-rey\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018WINTER VISITORS: ANOTHER LIFE IN THE LAGOON\u2019, AN OPEN DAY THAT INVITES YOU TO DISCOVER THE FAUNA THAT INHABITS THE FUENTE DEL REY LAGOON."},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>On Saturday 29 November from 10:00 a.m., the Laguna de Fuente del Rey will host an open day with free activities for all ages, including guided tours, workshops and birdwatching, with the aim of raising awareness of its attractions as a nature tourism destination.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Dos Hermanas Town Council<\/strong> and the <strong>Fuente del Rey Lagoon<\/strong>continuing with its firm commitment to the revitalisation and enhancement of this natural enclave as a sign of identity of the municipality and as a benchmark in environmental awareness and education in a unique urban setting, are organising a <strong>open day \u201cWinter visitors: another life in the Lagoon\u201d.\u201d<\/strong> a free event with no need to book in advance with activities for the whole family during the <strong>Saturday 29 November 2025 from 10:00 h onwards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main objective of this day is to <strong>to raise awareness of the value of the Fuente del Rey Lagoon, dedicated on this occasion to wintering birds, with the aim of bringing the migratory phenomenon and the importance of conserving urban wetlands closer to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wintering birds: the visitors of the cold<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The regular presence of wintering birds in the Laguna de Fuente del Rey is a key element in understanding the ecological value and functionality of this urban wetland. During the cold months (November-March), the lagoon acts as a seasonal refuge for numerous species from northern and central Europe, which find in this enclave ideal conditions for feeding, resting and protection from the adverse weather conditions in their areas of origin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This phenomenon makes the lagoon a strategic point within the migratory routes of the western Mediterranean, integrating it into the network of wetlands of the lower Guadalquivir and complementing areas of high ornithological value such as the marshes of the Guadalquivir, the Brazo del Este Laguna de la Mejorada or the Cerro de las Cig\u00fce\u00f1as in Los Palacios.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the most representative birds are the <strong>mallard duck<\/strong>the <strong>common coot<\/strong>the <strong>little grebe<\/strong>the <strong>common snipe<\/strong>the <strong>European robin<\/strong> or the <strong>common gnatcatcher<\/strong>, along with other transient species that use the lagoon as a way station during their migrations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Activities for the whole family<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Throughout the day, the following will be offered <strong>free activities for all audiences<\/strong>, The activities are aimed at enjoying and learning about the natural life of the lagoon:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Reception and welcome<\/strong>, with gifts for the families, among them a <strong>bird guide and a waterfowl poster<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Attention at the observatories<\/strong>, where visitors will be able to use <strong>telescopes and binoculars<\/strong> with the help of specialised guides to identify the species present.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nest-box assembly workshop<\/strong>, designed for families who will be able to build their own nesting box screen-printed with the Laguna logo.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Wintering birds dice game<\/strong>, a fun activity for children to learn about and colour in the most representative species of the Fuente del Rey Lagoon.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cWhat do birds eat in winter?\u201d<\/strong>, an interpretative walk through the environment to discover the natural feeding of migratory birds.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cWe catch food in the mud\u201d.\u201d<\/strong>, a game of dexterity that simulates how waders forage for food.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Wintering birds mural<\/strong>, The participants will be able to paint and place their own representations of the species that live in the Fuente del Rey Lagoon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With initiatives like this, the <strong>Dos Hermanas Town Council<\/strong> reinforces its commitment to the <strong>preservation of the Laguna de Fuente del Rey<\/strong> and the <strong>promotion of nature tourism<\/strong>.
