The 23rd Film Festival With a Woman's Name

Dos Hermanas is once again highlighting the Auteur Cinema a great cinema made by women directors, scriptwriters, production and recording techniques..., conveying original stories that offer new perspectives on the world and social relations, from 16 to 20 February 2026, This event has undoubtedly become one of the most important and eagerly awaited cultural events in the city.

The programme includes a careful and demanding selection of films directed by women, both national and international, many of them nominated for or winners of important awards, such as “The Voice of Hind”, by the Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania.

The programme consists of 7 feature films and 8 short films of various genres and themes.   

The opening will be the 16 February, at 18 hoursin the Juan Rodríguez Romero Municipal Theatre, from Dos Hermanas, and will feature with the actresses Carmen Canivell and Antonia Gómez as masters of ceremony. Admission to the opening ceremony will be by invitation only.

The feature film that opens the exhibition is the film “Deaf”of Eva freedom. A film that deals with motherhood and the social barriers of deaf people, a reality that we wanted to deal with from the Delegation.

“Sorda” has received numerous nominations and awards such as the Golden Biznaga at the Malaga Film Festival, the Audience Award and the Arthouse Cinema Award at the Berlinale, and prizes at the RNE Sant Jordi Awards. And in the 40th edition of the Goya Awards (2026) it has received seven nominations, including Best Film and Best New Director among others.

Admission by invitation only

Invitations can be collected at the Delegation of Equality, the Pedro Laín Entralgo Municipal Library, the Montequinto Municipal Library, the Bécquer Building (Montequinto Municipal Office) and the Fuente del Rey Municipal Office.  

The projection of the films will be in two daily passes:
  • At 11:30 a.m. in the Juan Rodríguez Romero Municipal Theatre

This session is especially aimed at students from the secondary schools of Dos Hermanas from 3rd ESO onwards, except for Friday's session, which is aimed at 1st and 2nd ESO.

*The IES will be sent all the information and the link to make reservations.

  • At 19:30h: tuesday 17th and wednesday 18th, will be screened at the La Almona Cultural Centre; and the Thursday 19 and Friday 20, in Montequinto Library Social and Cultural Centre.

*On Friday 20, the director Marta Nieto, will be accompanied virtually by a video presentation specially recorded for this exhibition.

Free admission to the screenings until full capacity is reached.

As an important novelty in this year's edition, the exhibition will be completed with two parallel activities:
MEETING WITH: EVA LIBERTAD

Audience interview with the director of Sorda, a close encounter that will provide a first-hand insight into the creative process, the motivations and the challenges that a director has to face in such a complex and competitive field as the film industry. The event, on 17 February at the Centro Cultural La Almona.

EXHIBITION: WOMEN IN CONTEMPORARY SPANISH CINEMA as a visual and artistic complement.

This activity takes place within the framework of the State Pact Against Gender Violence 2025-2026.
