Great Open Day at the Fuente del Rey Lagoon

Ecotourism, environmental education, heritage, culture and local gastronomy in one of the most unique natural enclaves of Dos Hermanas.

A programme for discovering, learning and enjoying nature

On the day of Open Doors of the Fuente del Rey Lagoon, the next 18 April as of 10:00 a.m., In addition, there will be different activities for the whole family, among which will be the guided observation and sighting itineraries, botanical routes, construction and assembly of nesting boxes and hotels for insects or creation of murals and nature charts.

A route through water, history and territorial identity

Other highlights of the programme will include the tourist route «The Path between Water and History».», a guided walk of approximately six kilometres organised by the association Signal and Way Club, with the collaboration of the Brotherhood of Valme.

This activity will connect the Fuente del Rey Lagoon with the Valme Chapel, The event will allow visitors to tour a river environment of great interest and to discover heritage elements such as the Royal Site of Cuarto, The route will take in the historical, cultural and scenic values associated with the area around the Guadaíra. The departure of the aforementioned route will take place on Saturday 18 April in the Laguna de Fuente del Rey, from 9:30 a.m. onwards.

Culture, legend and citizen participation

The programme will also include a proposal for professional theatricalisation focused on the legend of Fuente del Rey, closely linked to the origin of the lagoon and the history of the neighbourhood. This is an activity designed for all audiences, combining entertainment, dissemination and transmission of local intangible heritage.

Nature photography course 

The programme will be completed with a introductory course in nature photography, as part of the environmental outreach activities and the open day at the Laguna de Fuente del Rey. The course will be given by Modesto Jiménez Espinosa, a photographer with an extensive career and author of multiple nature photography exhibitions, both individual and collective, and president of the AFONAZA Association.

The course will be held on 17 and 18 April and will be aimed at people who wish to get started in nature photography, with the aim of understanding how a digital camera works, how images are obtained and how to get the most out of this technology in the natural environment.

The training will take place in two sessions. The theory class will take place on Friday 17 April, from 18:00 to 20:00, while the practical classes will be held on Saturday 18 April, from 10:00 to 14:00, organised in small groups to facilitate learning and personalised support. Meeting of tourism entrepreneurs

The Delegation of Economic Promotion and Innovation will hold a meeting with businessmen and businesswomen of the municipality to present the progress of the Tourism Plan for Large Cities and to share the opportunities offered by the development of nature tourism in Dos Hermanas.
