World Bird Day is an ideal occasion to remember the importance of biodiversity and species conservation. Birds are key indicators of the health of ecosystems; their presence, or lack thereof, can alert us to environmental problems such as habitat degradation or the effects of climate change. In addition, many birds play essential roles in nature, such as plant pollination, seed dispersal and pest control.
Celebrating this day invites us to reflect on our relationship with nature and how we can contribute to its preservation. It is an appropriate moment to promote environmental education, especially among the younger generations. This type of event brings families closer to the natural wealth of their surroundings and teaches them to value the importance of protecting areas such as the Laguna de Fuente del Rey, a space of great ecological value in Dos Hermanas.
By participating in this day, not only the conservation of birds is promoted, but also respect and harmonious coexistence with the natural environment, guaranteeing its protection for the future.
Dos Hermanas Town Council continues in its firm commitment to revitalise and promote the Fuente del Rey Lagoon as a sign of identity of the municipality and as a reference point for environmental awareness and education in a unique urban environment for the sighting of more than 100 species of birds throughout the year.
