La Laguna de Fuente del Rey is hosting two environmental activities on 1 February to mark World Wetlands Day and Environmental Education Day.
Family birdwatching tours for World Wetlands Day
On the occasion of the World Wetlands Daythe Dos Hermanas Town Council, in collaboration with SEO/BirdLife Seville, organises two free family birdwatching tours with the aim of raising awareness of the natural wealth and biodiversity of the Laguna de Fuente del Rey, one of the main natural areas of the municipality.
The routes, guided by specialised SEO/BirdLife staff, will allow participants to walk along the wetland trails and observe different species of birds that inhabit or use this area as a stopover point, highlighting the importance of wetlands as key ecosystems for the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change.
The activities will take place in two shifts, the first starting at 10:00 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m.. Participation is free, but the places are limited, and therefore it is necessary to prior registration via e-mail seo-sevilla@seo.org
Activities to celebrate World Environment Education Day
Also on the morning of Sunday 1 February, the Laguna de Fuente del Rey will host a series of activities organised by EMASESA, The event is part of the commemorative programme of the World Environment Education Day.
This informative day, aimed at the general public, will take place during the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will include botanical tours, biodiversity workshops and birdwatching activities, The aim is to promote knowledge, respect and participation of citizens in the protection of the environment and the responsible use of natural resources. For this activity no prior registration is required.
